Fred Ferguson, MBA, MS

President & CEO

I serve as President and CEO of the American Bus Association, where I lead the ABA and serve as the chief spokesperson for the $158 billion bus and group travel industry. I also lead ABA Marketplace and serve as President of the ABA Foundation and the National Bus Traffic Association, helping oversee a multi-entity enterprise with more than $15 million in assets and a broad network of national and international stakeholders.

My background combines public policy, strategic communications, and executive leadership across government, nonprofit, and private-sector roles. Before joining ABA, I was part of the executive team at Vista Outdoor, where I led government affairs, communications, and ESG. In that role, I helped lead the spinoff of Revelyst and The Kinetic Group, advised boards, supported more than $3 billion in mergers and acquisitions, and testified before Congress.

Earlier in my career, I served as a Chief of Staff in the U.S. House of Representatives, where I helped lead two Full Committee Chairmanship campaigns and authored 19 laws. Those experiences shaped how I think about leadership, advocacy, and the importance of building strong, results-oriented organizations. I also hold two master’s degrees, including an MBA from Oklahoma State University.

What drives me most in this role is the opportunity to strengthen and elevate an industry that connects people, supports communities, and powers economic activity across North America. ABA has a unique ability to bring operators and partners together, and I’m proud to help lead that work.

Outside of ABA, I serve on the board of the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable and enjoy spending time with my family and mentoring emerging leaders.
