ABA Response to NYC Department of Environmental Protection Variance

“The American Bus Association has received New York City’s idling variance related to Academy Bus and is reviewing the details in coordination with our member company. We appreciate the City’s attention to the private bus industry and its more than $13 billion economic impact in New York. We remain focused on rider safety and comfort, reducing congestion, and supporting mobility across the region, and we hope this process results in an outcome that meets these priorities.”

ABA and a coalition of national travel organizations have sent a letter to the Department of the Interior (DOI) and the National Park Service (NPS) expressing support for efforts to modernize national park operations and identify sustainable revenue sources to ensure public lands are maintained and protected for generations to come, while raising concerns about a proposed per-person surcharge on non-U.S. citizens traveling on group tours.

Protect Seasonal Workforce Solutions That Keep Group Travel Moving

From motorcoach operations and attractions to destinations and hospitality businesses, short-season roles are essential to keeping group travel moving, especially in rural and gateway communities. Even when competitive wages are offered, recruiting enough domestic workers for these positions remains a serious challenge. The H-2B visa program helps fill that gap, but the current cap continues to limit access to a workforce our industry depends on.

Including CSE in the baseline text of the FY26 DHS Appropriations bill is critical for the group travel and tourism economy.
