Director of Safety & Certifications

I am the Director of Safety and Certification at ABA. My focus is on developing and coordinating education and training programs that support the motorcoach and group travel industry. A major part of my work is ensuring safety is not simply included but intentionally built into the programs and resources we provide.

What stands out most to me about this industry is the level of dedication people bring to their work. Safety is not treated as an afterthought. It is a real priority, and that matters because transportation is so interconnected. What one operator does can affect many others. That shared responsibility creates a strong sense of purpose and accountability, which I find both reassuring and motivating.

I bring more than 20 years of experience from the U.S. Department of Transportation, where I worked on policy development, safety programs, and rulemaking initiatives. That experience gave me a strong understanding of how regulators think, what they prioritize, and how solutions are implemented. I have also developed multiple training programs, which directly shapes how I approach ABA’s education and certification efforts.

One area I am especially passionate about is advancing safety as a shared responsibility across the industry. Safety touches everyone: operators, passengers, and the public. Building tools and programs that strengthen safety practices has an impact far beyond the industry itself. It helps create safer roadways for all of us, and being part of that work is especially meaningful to me.

Outside of work, I co-lead an all-women creative writing group. Writing has always been an important part of my life, and it gives me a creative outlet that balances the more structured and analytical side of my professional work.
