Opening Session – Update on the New Inspection Bulletins

Each year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) reviews, modifies and publishes new North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria. The North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC) is the pass-fail criteria for safety inspections. The purpose of the criteria is to identify critical safety violations. Those violations can render the driver, vehicle and/or motor carrier out of service until the condition(s) or violation(s) are corrected or repaired. Find out about the latest changes to the criteria, and what to look out for before your next inspection. The inspection bulletins provide inspectors with detailed instruction, pictures and examples of what to look for during inspections. A few new ones have recently been completed. Find out what they contain!

Open Campaign Update with the OEMs

OEM Panel: ABC, MCI, Prevost, TEMSA 

This session will discuss topics covering a range of items related to types of campaigns. The campaign process and documentation, customer complaints or requests, identifying vehicles involved in a campaign, notification process of an National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall campaign, filing a claim, purchasing, and selling of processed coaches, availability of parts, reimbursement, warranty and campaign management, and internal warranty tracking. We will also demonstrate how to look up active campaigns and differentiate between a campaing and a recall.

Electronic DVIRs, How Can We Use Them, What Can We Learn From Them

A Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) is a formal report which confirms that a driver has completed an inspection on a commercial motor vehicle. Drivers must complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and detail any mechanical defects they encounter. These inspections play an important part in improving road safety while ensuring fleet compliance. Several providers have rolled out new driver platforms that streamline Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance, DVIR, driver identification, messaging and more from one robust application. With so much data now in one place, how can we slice and dice the data to make it work for you? Improve periodic maintenance intervals? Better coordinate and organize parts orders? You won't want to miss this deep dive into how to make the best use of these new tools.

Fleet management software systems that ensure vehicle efficiency, compliance, maintenance and safety are built to mainly monitor a fleet that is in motion – not one that is grounded. As the nation reopens from the coronavirus lock down, fleets need to move forward with a fresh outlook and new focus on maintenance standards. Many aren't used to being back to running a lot of miles and for consecutive days.

During this session, we will look into tire maintenance best practices. How to adjust for anticipated air leakage, potential sidewall deterioration, any rebalancing or reseating recommendations.
