Women in Buses Council is More than about Empowerment

In 2011, ABA recognized that in a male-dominated industry there was a need for women in the industry - whether owners or members of staff -  to come together to recognize and advance the role of women in the industry through networking, education and mentoring programs and in turn created the Women in Buses (WIB) Council. Since its inception, the WIB Council members have focused on the leadership, structure and activities to meet the needs of its members.

The important aspect of the Council is that it is truly all inclusive. You do not have to be an ABA member to belong to the Council (although you will reap many more benefits as a member!) and you don’t have just be an owner of a business. The Council welcomes general managers, executives, bus operator’s operations and maintenance staff, bus manufacturers, associate members, safety staff, tour operators, DMO/CVB staff, travel industry members and national/state/provincial/regional and affiliated association staff and members of the industry who support the mission of WIB. There is no fee join this esteemed group.

WIB provides expert speakers and government/industry officials who present on issues and innovations in areas of interest to the diverse needs/interest of the Council and its committees (executive management, operations and maintenance, and travel, tour and charter). The Council also provides mentoring opportunities to advise and support individual members of the Council.

Annually the Council also recognizes women leaders who have directly influenced the advancement of the role of women in the motorcoach industry through its Women in Buses award. For more information, click here
