I wanted to send you a brief update on the COVID-19 relief negotiations taking place on Capitol Hill right now.
Last week, a bi-partisan group of Senators and House Members announced a plan for a package that included funding for transportation – specifically $8 billion for the motorcoach industry by taking language from the Coronavirus Economic Relief for Transportation Services Act or CERTS Act (which was originally at $10 billion).
Because of all your outreach during this past year, it is now coming down to this package – and we need to call on you once again to make your voices heard.
Over this past weekend, we learned the $8 billion dollars in the initial proposal may be cut to $5 billion, to provide more funding for public transits – and as this bill is still open for negotiation, it could be cut further or altogether, if our Senators and Representatives don’t stand up for our industry. WE CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN – THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM US.
While we support funding to preserve all forms of public transportation service, the motorcoach industry has received nothing to date. We need you to remind your elected representatives of this fact, and urge them to support your business now by supporting $8 billion for the industry.
Please call your Senator and Congressman today. Tell them to stand up for your business and the motorcoach industry today by supporting $8 billion for buses in the next COVID-19 relief package, or you and the industry will not be here tomorrow to help with the fundamental transportation needs of every American.
