Driving Force: Creating a Great Job Listing is Important Part of Recruitment

An important tool in your recruitment toolbox should be an attention-grabbing job listing. Before you start, you must first determine who your audience is. Once you know who you are writing for, you need to think about ad placement: do you want online or print.

If you’re posting your job listing online then you can safely assume that people will most likely read it on their smartphones, so keeping it short and to the point is more important than ever.

If you are posting a print ad, you need to check what the word count is allowed.

The Driving Force’s Best Tips for Writing a Good Job Posting

  • Make it easy to read
  • Include a company overview
  • Provide a description of the position in a brief paragraph
  • Summarize the personality characteristics of good candidates
  • List the position responsibilities
  • List the position requirements and location of job
  • Provide additional information and how to apply

Remember to be creative with your postings. There are less ‘rules’ compared to past thinking for what you can and can’t say in a job posting (but being professional will always be in style), so if you feel like being creative to attract the right fit, do it! You will attract a great candidate that wants to be part of making your company successful.
