Cleveland Ready to Rock for ABA’s Annual Meeting & Marketplace

This past week the ABA Marketplace Advisory Committee met in Cleveland to continue adding the finishing touches on the 2017 ABA Annual Meeting & Marketplace taking place Jan. 14-17. After touring the city and witnessing the renaissance the city has gone through over the last few years, it is without a doubt that Cleveland is ready to welcome ABA members with open and inviting arms ready to showcase their foodie town and delightful neighborhoods that cater to all.

Cleveland has a rich history and the city has made herculean efforts to restore and repurpose historical buildings into the modern day, vibrant city it has been rebuilding its reputation on. You will see old banks which once moved millions of dollars a day as Cleveland was once the third richest city in the United States before the Great Depression turned into hip restaurants where you can dine in bank vaults. Or choose one of our historical, luxurious housing options by staying either at the newly opened Drury Plaza Hotel, which is the former Board of Education building originally built in the 1930s with two fully restored murals painted by Cora Holden in 1931 or at the Renaissance Hotel, which was built in 1918 and reflects Cleveland's unique style and cultural history.

The many neighborhood restaurants will satisfy every palette from Little Italy, to hip Tremont, to new American fusion in Ohio City and to Downtown’s culinary legends like Michael Simon’s restaurants. This is one city that caters to even the pickiest eaters!

While the city will keep you captivated with its rich history and newly developed foodie personality, you will also enjoy the business enhancing action happening in the convention center!

During ABA’s Annual Meeting & Marketplace – the industry’s premier business event –  more than 3,500 tour operators, suppliers and exhibitors come together to kick off a new year of business opportunity and growth. ABA's Annual Meeting & Marketplace is truly a marketplace – an active, vibrant forum of buyers and sellers where business gets done. With more than 140,000 pre-scheduled appointments and 800 pre-qualified operators, ABA's Annual Meeting & Marketplace offers a year’s worth of sales meetings in one week.

But this is not just about business on the floor! Not only will attendees build their business with the networking and appointments, but you will also find ABA’s BISC,  BusMARC, Women in Buses, Hispanic Motorcoach and Entertainer Motorcoach Councils all hosting their winter meetings in Cleveland.  You and your team will also have access to education sessions that will help take your business to the next level!

And as for networking opportunities, there really isn’t a better place than ABA’s afterhours networking events! See the famous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Great Lakes Science Center at the “Space Oddity: Science Rocks!” event, or come see how Cleveland repurposed its historical power plant into a nautical entertainment complex during the “Light Up Cleveland” event.

And don’t forget the ABA Foundation’s silent and live auction and the Hard Rock’s Afterglow party where all proceeds will help Fund a Future for industry education.

ABA and Cleveland offer everything you need to kick off your year on a successful note and set the scene for your business in 2017.
