ABA Foundation Report Says Motorcoach Manufacturing Sales Grew in Q317

Today the American Bus Association Foundation (ABAF) released the third quarter 2017 Motorcoach Builder Survey. Based on surveys of the major motorcoach manufacturers that sell vehicles in the United States and Canada, motorcoach sales from the participating manufacturers saw a 9.9 percent increase over the same quarter in 2016 to a total of 767 units (514 new coaches and 253 pre-owned coaches.)

“We saw a nice rebound this quarter over the second quarter where we saw a slight decrease,” said Peter Pantuso, president & CEO of the American Bus Association Foundation. “The big seller in the third quarter were the 40-45 foot coaches, which was 90 percent higher than this time last year.”

All sizes of coaches saw an increase over the previous year. The 45-foot sales were 10 percent higher than quarter three in 2016 and the 30 foot – 40 foot sales saw a jump of 12.5 percent over the last year.

“The good news for customers is that the majority of sales were new, private motorcoaches,” said Pantuso. “Companies are continuing to invest in their products and their customers with newer, updated coaches.”

Total sales for new coaches were 12 percent higher over the previous year to a total of 514 units. Pre-owned coaches were also up by 5.9 percent to a total of 253 units.
