The American Bus Association Foundation – the largest non-profit organization in the motorcoach and group travel industry, with an emphasis on research and scholarships – released its third quarter 2018 Motorcoach Builder Survey. Based on surveys of the major motorcoach manufacturers that sell vehicles in the United States and Canada, motorcoach sales from the participating manufacturers saw strong quarter over the same quarter in 2017. For the third quarter 2018 sales came to 732 units versus 700 units in 2017, leading to a 4.6 percent increase in sales.
While there was a dip in sales in the 30- to 45-foot motorcoach sales, 45-foot motorcoach sales saw another quarter of double-digit growth with 484 units sold, a 17.5 percent growth over the third quarter in 2017.
“These sales numbers show what our members have been saying over the past two years – that business is good,” says ABA Foundation President Peter Pantuso. “More people are traveling by motorcoach and the industry is responding by upgrading inventory and adding more amenities that passengers now come to expect when they step on a motorcoach.”
