As many of our members operate school buses in addition to motorcoaches, we wanted to make you aware of the following upcoming meeting. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has announced it will hold a board meeting on Tuesday, May 22 at 9am EDT to discuss its Special Investigative Report on the 2016 school bus accidents in Baltimore and Chattanooga, Tenn. NTSB meetings are webcast and can be viewed here live.

Given the importance of this NTSB meeting to the industry, we would like to convene the ABA's School Bus Council to discuss it and any recommendations offered by NTSB in greater detail. This call will be on Thursday, May 24 at 3pm EDT. In addition, we will discuss the EPA's plan to rollback the greenhouse gas emission rule and two important funding opportunities -- the VW Settlement and EPA's DERA grant opportunity. Both of the funding opportunities (VW and DERA) are open to school bus contractors for vehicle or engine replacement or retrofit. The call agenda may be accessed here. We hope you will be able to join us.
