The motorcoach industry continually strives to improve the safety and security of bus operations. Over the past few years, enhancing motorcoach security has become a key issue for all motorcoach operators and a priority issue for the nation as a whole as motorcoaches visit nearly all of our nation's historic landmarks, pass along or through much of our critical infrastructure, and transport nearly 605 million passengers annually.
Since 2003, over $110 million in grants have been awarded to the motorcoach industry by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the Intercity Bus Security Grant Program (IBSGP).
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be releasing the FY 2019 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) Announcement for the Intercity Bus Security Grant Program (IBSGP) as well as other Preparedness Grant Programs on April 12, 2019.
The FY19 grants timeline is very compressed. You will have 45 days to submit your applications through www.grants.gov.
Application due date: May 29, 2019
FEMA and TSA will host an open conference call/webinar for potential applicants in conjunction with ABA on April 18 at 2 PM EDT to help motorcoach operators navigate through the application process and discuss changes/highlights for the FY 2019 application cycle.
