ABA BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVES SIX OPENINGS ON BOARD FOR TOUR OPERATORS |

Washington, DC, October 18, 2005 - Recognizing the valuable and important role tour operators play in the group travel industry, as well as in the association, the American Bus Association Board of Directors approved at its recent meeting openings for up to six tour operators to ABA's Board. The move is significant, as it demonstrates how committed ABA is to including all segments of the group travel industry in key decisions for the association. |

Washington, DC, October 18, 2005 - All of the 25 intercity bus security grants awarded by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) went to American Bus Association private bus operator members who applied for bus security grants earlier this year. The companies will receive nearly $10 million in federal assistance to help them make security improvements to their operations. The Department of Homeland Security announced the grant recipients this week. To date, the private motorcoach industry has received nearly $50 million in bus security grants for the entire industry. |

BUS INDUSTRY MOVES HURRICANE VICTIMS AS FUEL SUPPLIES RUN LOW |

Washington, DC, September 2, 2005 - As the private bus industry helps the thousands of people affected by Hurricane Katrina evacuate from the devastated areas, the industry is turning to Congress for help ensuring fuel supplies won't be disrupted. In a letter sent to Congress today, the American Bus Association is asking that the industry be put at the top of the fuel supply priority list and that the industry be extended a fuel tax exemption through the end of the year while it works to support the relief effort and to provide an "alternate source of transportation" for Americans. |

The transportation bill includes more than $39 million dollars in grants for operators to put wheelchair lifts on buses. |

Washington, DC, June 2, 2005 - Seventeen students will each receive a $2,500 scholarship from the American Bus Association's Foundation for the 2005-06 school year. The American Bus Association Foundation (ABAF) is a nonprofit organization with an emphasis on scholarships, research, technology, and continuing education. Created in 1996, the Foundation administers the George T. Snyder Jr. Scholarship Program. George Snyder was a former ABA president; who had a lifelong interest in helping others achieve advancement opportunities through education. |

ABA / UMA MEMBERS VOTE OVERWHELMINGLY TO APPROVE UNIFICATION |

Washington, DC, May 3, 2005 - In an historic vote, members of the American Bus Association and the United Motorcoach Association have given overwhelming approval to the consolidation of the two associations. The action comes after more than a year of meetings and negotiations by members of a joint ABA-UMA Unification Task Force. Both memberships voted overwhelmingly in favor of the merger; with 93 percent of ABA's voting members in support of the merger and 87 percent of UMA's members in support of the merger. |
