ABA's Government Affairs and Policy staff brings more that half a century of combined experience serving in both government agencies and within various sectors of the motorcoach industry to its role as the voice of the industry before elected officials.  ABA's team pursues opportunities by closely monitoring key legislative and regulatory developments, safeguards the rights of motorcoach operators, protects members from inequitable business regulation, and keeps members informed.

Transportation Reauthorization (MAP-21)

On July 6, 2012, President Obama signed into law legislation that authorizes surface transportation programs through September 2014. "Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century," or MAP-21, incorporates many provisions that affect motorcoach safety and operations. View the law text (PDF).

ABA Testifies Before U.S. House Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee

ABA President and CEO Peter Pantuso told members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials that motorcoach transportation in the United States continues strong year-to-year growth and remains exceptionally competitive against other modes of transportation, especially considering that Amtrak remains heavily subsidized by the federal government.
