Code Of Ethics Violation Reporting Process
The Code of Ethics for members of the American Bus Association has been adopted to promote and maintain the highest standards of intercity bus service and personal conduct among its members.
If a member or customer has evidence of an ethics violation regarding another ABA member, the following process should be followed for appropriate reporting and investigation.
1. Submit to ABA in writing an account of the suspected ethics violation, including any and all appropriate supporting documentation.
All complaints may be submitted to the ABA President & CEO by email at abaexecutiveoffice@buses.org or phone to (800) 283-2877.
2. ABA's President & CEO will review all ethics complaints and designate a member of the ABA staff to conduct a follow-up investigation and have a discussion with both parties involved in the complaint.
3. ABA may solicit additional information at the discretion of the President & CEO.
4. Following an investigation, the President & CEO will either:
a. Attempt to mediate a resolution directly with the members in conflict.
b. Forward the complaint to the ABA Board's Ethics Committee to review the findings of fact and resolve the dispute.
5. Following a review by the ABA Board's Ethics Committee, an ABA member found to be in violation could be:
a. Asked to leave the Association.
b. Not be allowed to have their membership renewed until the complaint is resolved.
c. Censured.
d. Asked to pay a monetary fine.
e. Found to not be at fault.
All members involved in an ethics dispute can expect to be communicated with by either phone, email, or written letter.
Non-response in relation to a request for information or a request for action (under point #5) will be considered to be in acceptance of the final findings of the ABA Ethics Committee.
All decisions made by the Ethics Committee are conveyed via written letter to the company's identified primary contact.
