The Peter L. Picknelly Honorary Fund
The Peter L. Picknelly Honorary Fund is established to honor Peter L. Picknelly, Sr., chairman of Peter Pan Bus Lines Inc. Peter was a member of the American Bus Association Board of Directors and a founding Chairman of the American Bus Association Marketplace. Peter passed away in October 2004 and was an innovator in the bus industry for more than 50 years beginning with his employment in 1948 at Peter Pan Bus Lines, Inc., the company his father, Peter C. Picknelly, founded. This fund is established to recognize the contribution of bus drivers, mechanics and maintenance personnel to the motorcoach industry. Eligible applicants are bus drivers or maintenance personnel, or their children, of ABA operator members. The fund will award and $2,500 yearly scholarship to support candidates for technical schools or accredited learning institutions with two-year or more transportation-related education programs. Applicants to the fund must demonstrate a financial need, maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average and effectively demonstrate their desire and ability, to participate successfully in a learning program as described above. The Picknelly family, Motor Coach Industries, Bridgestone/Fireston Tires, Atlantic Detroit Diesel Allison and Gerry Hausman, have contributed to the establishment of the fund.
